Grace's Bible Journey and Extras Part 12

I updated the title of this post...it used to have "curriculum" in it, but that took a different direction when graduate school began for me!  I have still tried to be intentional about reading the bible with Grace and doing a few activities, but nothing has been structured.  I was getting overwhelmed with everything going on, so the curriculum itself was taken off my list of expectations (for myself).  We still have "school" time here and there; there just aren't as many planned crafts.  I'm okay with it and since Grace is in preschool three days a week, she is okay with it too!

We read about Pentecost and the Ascension from the bible.  Grace has particularly taken to the Ascension story.  She is at an age where she becomes completely enthralled with different toys for several days at a time.   I used the Ascension story to explain how "things" aren't important and they will be gone one day.  While I don't think she fully understands it, I catch her saying, "One day, Jesus will come and make everything new and our toys won't be important".  haha!

I saw a model demonstration on Pinterest dealing with the Ascension, so I figured I would try it because it's hard to explain that story!  Here's a video of Grace explaining to her daddy what happens in the story...

We used this box for some pretty awesome puppet shows.  We all took turns and then Wesley came barging through the opening :)

I posted this in the Halloween Fun post, but thought I'd share it again.  Sensory bins are AWESOME for kids!  Grace will sit and play with this for 30 minutes.

Playdough mat fun: printed off for free and laminated them!

Grace is into this show called SuperWhy.  It's about this character named Wyatt who has the super power to read.  Anyways, Grace has been getting interested in reading through this show.  She points out letters and can make the letter sounds as well.  We pulled this Leapfrog toy out of her closet that sings the letters and their sounds.  Grace wanted to put them in order...a girl after my own heart :)

Painting fun with pumpkins

We have also practiced handwriting the numbers on the calendar and are almost through tracing letters for the whole alphabet.  We usually do two at a time.  Grace's fine motor skills are improving wonderfully!  Grace thrives off of positive enforcement, so I have learned to be patient and overly excited with her about her attempts.
