This month was ridiculous, in a good way. There were several birthday celebrations thrown for me as I turned 29, lots of family time, and I began a new job. New transitions are in store for the kiddos, but so far the have done really well. I write this blog post the day after finding out about my childhood dog, Chip, passing away. Things in Columbia, SC will never be the same without him! Grace ADORED Chip. Chip was my brother's dog technically but my parents have been taking care of him since my brother moved out to California. I will write a separate post just for Chip with pictures. He will be missed.
Wesley+chocolate pudding=MESS and happiness :) He decided to ditch his spoon...
These two kids LOVE popsicles. They would eat a box a day if I let them.
Saturday morning TV time. SO sweet.
Mom came to visit on my birthday :) She brought her famous butter cookies to decorate with Grace.
Jimmy went all out for my birthday! He bought steak, lobster, cupcakes AND yummy wine. I also got a new cookbook (I asked for it, it wasn't a hint from Jimmy, haha) and a personal laminator. Yep, teacher gifts are the best :) Can't wait to use it!
Three generations!
Rock Hill, SC for joint family birthdays and Easter celebration.
Shhh! Pepere is sleeping.
Cindy made chocolate and marshmallow dipped treats. They were a hit!
Smile!
Smile or I'm taking your eggs! :) What had happened with Wesley was his mommy forgot to pack a jacket and it was a chilly day. Fortunately aunt Cindy was able to share a shawl with him, haha!
Presents! Cindy is being blocked by my enormous bag.
We got tired of chasing the kiddos around...thank goodness for pack n plays!
Birthday girls!
This boy.
Playing under the table with uncle Linton!
Wesley LOVES music. Both of our children do. He'll sneak into the bedroom (where Jimmy's office is) and want to try Jimmy's headphones on to listen to music.
Grace and Ellory at dance class
The Hicks invited us over for dinner (thank you again!) so we could all catch up. We have been friends with the Hicks since before these children existed! It's crazy there are 4 of them now.
Memere came to visit this month! These kiddos got spoiled at the mall...mommy usually just lets them look at it :)
We have been missing out! This is Hanes park, a wonderful park that we just went to for the first time. The kids had a blast.
Grace climbing up the big kid ladder.
Beautiful things happen when community comes together. A group of ladies got together to make blessing bags for the homeless. There are often homeless people at stop lights and other locations around town and many of us wanted to know how to help besides giving money. Through the work of many ladies, we were able to coordinate a get together to put items of need in bags to hand out to the homeless now. The kids were great helpers! Side note: who made Silas mad?? ;)
This is Katie, one of my best friends from college. We (along with Beth) were both education majors. Katie and I also played a collegiate sport; tennis for her and soccer for myself. Katie, Beth, Liz, and I still keep in touch and have girls trips each year. We all roomed or suited together half of our college days. We have been praying for God to send the right guy into Katie's life and sure enough, He answered. Katie is getting married in June! We were excited to get together for her shower and bachelorette party!
The bridesmaids in the "swagger wagon" that we rode around in all day and night. Thanks Elizabeth!
It was a Sunday morning and we needed to get OUT of the house. Jimmy had worked a long week with calls shifts. Leslie and Mat Williams to the rescue :) They met Grace, Wesley and I at the Reynolda Villages for some hiking and picnic lunching. It was so refreshing!
David and Lindsay also went all out for my birthday! They surprised me with a yummy lunch this past Sunday. We are so thankful for them!!! We are also SO excited that Timmy will be coming to live with them THIS Friday!! Oh the memories to be made...
Wesley: PHEW. That's all. :) This boy gives us a run for our money; he's always on the go! I am most excited about him speaking more and understanding even more. We can actually communicate with him better and distract him from his constant screaming. Wesley LOVES trucks...he loves looking at them and reading about them. He loves to copy his sissy, which isn't always a good thing.
Grace: She will be 4 in a few weeks! We cannot believe it. "I can't wait for kindergarten, mommy!" is a common phrase she likes to throw in my face...makes me sad to think about, haha! Grace is currently into Curious George and that will be the theme of her birthday party. Grace is incredibly patient and loving with her brother that just likes to pull hair and hit for fun.
Kristen: I ended my contract with CERTL this month and decided to pursue a job in the school system. I will dearly miss my CERTL crew as I have been there since Grace was born, so almost 4 years! Since I'm in grad school for administration, I knew I would eventually need to get back in to the school system. I was fortunate enough to get hired as a part-time reading interventionist at the school I previously taught fourth grade. It's a PERFECT fit right now as I'll be working with children and doing reading strategies. I will be at the school Monday-Thursday for four hours each day and will have training on Fridays. I see 30+ children a DAY...my schedule is tight and I am on the go, but it will be so fun working with the kids. I am thankful for the opportunity! Grace and Wesley had been going to preschool a few days a week, but now have to go 5 days a week. This has been a transition for them. I even have to drop them off early and let them stay until 1:00 each day. They have done really well and it helps that we are all on Spring Break this week. Please pray for them to continue to transition well into extra days at school and for me to be able to balance the new job with grad school. It's going to be crazy!
Jimmy: He is finishing up PEDS right now and will begin PAIN next. He'll be working at the pain clinic for the next month. Since it is a clinic, he will get weekends off and even had this coming Friday (Good Friday) off. Jimmy has been working hard, as always, and we are so grateful for his dedication to anesthesia. Have I mentioned that he got elected CHIEF resident for next year? I can't remember if I put that in a blog post yet. Two residents get nominated each year (that will be in their last year of residency) to represent their class. Jimmy and Sarah (they went to medical school together and we are good friends with her family) will be representing their anesthesia class. This means they will have some leadership roles, scheduling to take care of, and some other things I'm sure I don't know about just yet. We are SO proud of Jimmy!
