Met these ladies in Charlotte for the day at the beginning of January. College besties! Can't wait for a longer get together in the summer!
I think this was taken at Memere and Pepere's house in December...just never made it on the blog.
3 light sabers...3 kids....that looks about right.
I've been working on sight words and writing letters with Grace for a long time now. We have bumped it up a notch and she will trace a word and then write it on her own. I try to be super positive with her about it because she and I can bump heads ;) I let her choose a sheet of words to write and she has come a long way! She wrote her first sentence (with heavy guidance) yesterday...so proud!
Grace started gymnastics this month. She LOVES it. This was one of her Christmas gifts.
Wesley @ "Chick a lay" He loves this place so much. We sat down next to two men having breakfast together and here's how the conversation went:
Wesley: Hay...I Wesley.
Men: (smile) Hi there (go back to talking)
Wesley: I eat Chick a lay. I like it.
Haha :) Love this boy!
Love this girl as well! She loves some Chick-Fil-A, too.
GQ?
Here's when the dreaded sickness began in our house about mid-January. Grace came down with pneumonia and boy it was brutal! Her cough was the worst part and it literally kept her up at night so she was exhausted during the day. My mom was a blessing and came up to watch Grace since she had to be out of school and I had testing going on at work.
Then, a few days after arriving, Memere came down with the stomach bug at our house. Hence the picture here where the kids had to share a room because Memere was in solitary confinement in Wesley's room (there is a bed and crib that turns into a bed in his room so he was sleeping in there with her). Poor Memere! I felt terrible.
Then Jimmy got the stomach bug. Then I got the stomach bug. Fortunately it didn't last too long for me and I was back to normal pretty quickly.
Memere went home, daddy went to work, so the kids and I had a pizza night. All seemed well.
We even met the Williams clan at the science center in Greensboro for a fun morning. Grace was complaining about her tummy hurting...I should have seen it coming!
Crosland, Leslie, Ansley and Wesley
Ansley (3 almost 4) and Grace (4 almost 5). Oh the height difference...wait, there isn't one. Evidence Grace is quite the shorty.
We ate lunch in the van and then I decided to be spontaneous. I mean, we were in Greensboro after all and we are never there so I thought we could hang out, drive around, let Wesley fall asleep in the van and find a place to park. Grace and I watched a movie on the DVD player and when Wesley woke up we went into the Greensboro Children's Museum (our first time!). The kids were having a great time...
I sent this picture to Jimmy with the caption, "Hopefully this is the only time you'll see your son in the back of a cop car". That would definitely be our prayer, haha.
We went into this room and you can tell by Grace's face that she's not herself. She said, "I feel like I'm going to throw up, but I'm not." Oh boy. I ran to grab Wesley so we could go to the...NOPE. Grace lost her insides on the carpeted area in this room...actually right at the entrance to this room on the white picketed fence. Yeah. It was terrible. I felt so bad for her. I was able to get her to the bathroom and clean her up. She fell asleep in the van on the way home and then got sick many more time that evening.
It was around 6:45 and I had been checking on Grace, but she pulled up a stool to the toilet and was just hanging out. Until she fell asleep. For real...it was so pitiful. She slept through the night and was much better the next day. Wesley was spared and we are thankful for that.
The snow days were amazing! Great neighbors and friends to hang out with, sledding, hot chocolate, warm meals, fires, and board games...lots of board games!
We all healed up JUST in time for some snow!
Wesley and I
Timmy, Grace, and Wesley
The Johnsons came over as well.
Putting gloves on a little one is no joke.
Family picture!
Blake and Grace
The snow began to melt, but things also began to freeze over at night. School was cancelled for a total of 4 days. Yeah. Timmy came over for two of those days and we had lost of fun!
Play-Doh fun
Stir crazy fun...even the dogs were over the snow.
Look at these two...I can around the corner and found them this way. Heart warming for sure. How come can you can sit on top of each other but if one of you has a toy the other wants, it's time to pitch a fit?
"I eat like doggy" (not play-doh...it's Goldfish)
Working on spelling out words with magnets from when mommy used to teach 1st grade.
I got to meet the newest Watki, Graeme Edwin Watkins, at the end of January and WOW is he a cutie! Grace wanted to stay the night with him at the hospital...not sure Kim would have found that to be helpful. This was an exciting birth because the Watkins did not find out what gender they were having and they already have two little girls. Everyone assumed it would be another girl! Surprise!
Grace turned Wesley into a Wanda ;) "I wear it" he said and then the pink tutu was on!
Back to Wesley...wearing a bow tie and all.
Before we knew it, it was like Spring outside. Just beautiful! We pulled down the moon dough and went outside.
We also went for a walk. They DO love each other, sometimes.
Family Update
Wesley: This boy is turning out to be such a sweet, tender-hearted soul. He loves playing with his sissy, friend at school, and anything toy vehicle (especially tractors). One of our favorite things about Wesley right now is when he plays hide and seek or comes around the corner and says, "Here my are!" Lol. A new development for Wesley is that he has been sleeping in a big boy bed for about a month now. We were having trouble with him getting out of bed early in the mornings so we bought another goodnight light. We have had one for Grace and they are AWESOME. It's a night light that you set a timer for so it turns to a moon when it's bed time and turns to a sun when it's time to wake up and get out of bed. Grace and Wesley both just earned a week's straight worth of magnets on their behavior chart for staying in bed until their sun turns on. Winning!
Grace: After the sick bug kicked Grace's tail, she has had a much better month. She had a first this month! She rolled her eyes at me, sighed and said, "Moooom". You can imagine how well that went over for her. Despite Grace's sassiness with me, she is also a sweet soul. She loves going to pre-school and we cannot even believe we are beginning the process of her starting kindergarten this next school year. There will be tears...from Jimmy most likely, haha. Jk jk.
Kristen: The sick bug put a big dent in my end of quarter testing schedule at school, but what can you do? It has been a busy month at work for me and it's not slowing down anytime soon since our next round of testing starts next week. I am halfway through my LAST graduate school class!!!! SO pumped about that one. I begin my 16 week internship on March 7th (three days before I turn 30!) and am really looking forward to that. I've been trying to be better about being in the word with the kids and memorizing scripture. We took a break...too long of a break and there's just no excuse. We have been using our Christmas cards during prayer time at night to pray for friends and family so know that if you sent us a card, you are prayed for!
Jimmy: 4 months until Jimmy graduates from residency!!! He's still busy as always, but January wasn't too bad. Jimmy is on regional this month (February) and while the hours are supposed to be better, I feel like we really haven't seen him much due to meetings and other commitments. Can't complain too much because we have a vacation week coming up and we are headed to Disney with Jimmy's family! The kids don't know and we plan on surprising them.
