August Family Update 2016

August was packed full of celebrations for our family!  There were birthday parties, back to school celebrations, Wake Forest football celebrations...etc.  I really wanted to do some special things with the kids before work started for me on the 22 and kindergarten started for Grace on the 29th.  Grace and Wesley each got to choose an activity or place they would like to visit during our last week together and although this pregnant momma was definitely exhausted, it was well worth the time we spent together.  I'm thankful for this summer with the kids but SO ready to get this baby out of my belly!!  The next time I'll be writing this monthly update, we'll be a family of 5!

Jimmy's grandpa G passed away this week.  His funeral was yesterday in Savannah, GA and if you could be praying for his family, that would be much appreciated.  His grandma Lou will especially need your prayers.  Grandpa G was a someone I didn't get to know that well, but I loved being with him whenever we visited Savannah.

There's proof I have a Masters degree now...weird, right??  Grateful it's over!  Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership!

Post-nap snuggles

Grace asked to go to the library and you know this teacher momma was thrilled about that request!  Our library had a little make over and has some new interactive stations set up.

Jimmy and I were able to go to an ultrasound together (without kids!) and bought these stuffed animals that have baby Anna's heartbeat recorded inside.

Family time :)  Favorite time!

LOVE these ladies from our church fellowship group.  We had a girls night out that they combined into a baby sprinkle for me...so thoughtful!  We met for sushi and then went out to watch the movie Bad Moms!!  It was SOOO fun.  We may or may not have snuck alcohol and snacks into the theater...hehe.  Just a little wine in a can...calm down everyone!

Gotta love having a stash of diapers and inside that blue bag is a pedicure gift card that I have been saving and will use this next week for sure!  Thank you ladies :)

If you don't know about or aren't a believer in balance bikes, let me convince you otherwise!  Grace's buddy, Ellory, let us borrow her balance bike because Grace was having trouble with the balance component on her bike when Jimmy took her training wheels off.  After a few weeks of practice on Ellory's balance bike, Grace literally got on her bike and TOOK OFF!  Jimmy was so excited he took her to get a new bike (since the Frozen bike really was small for her).

About twice a year I pull out this huge bin of books and swap books from the book shelf in the kids' room.  They had so much fun looking through books they thought were new, but alas, are just old ones they haven't seen in 6 months.  Score!

Greensboro Science Museum!

There's a park with a nice pathway I've taken the kids a few times this summer to ride their bikes (and it helps that it's in the shade).  They took a pit stop to throw rocks in the creek.  These are my child hood memories!

Happy 5th birthday to Grace's buddy, Ellory!  Tea party style :)

Wake Forest Fan Fest!  This was our first year going and we met up with the Kittners to let the kids run around on the football field and enjoy some fun time together.

Grace with the Kittner girls...I see a lot of game time this season spent together by these kids!

Wesley's ouchie that could have been MUCH worse than it was.  Jimmy was spraying water at the front door and told Grace to "shut the door!"  So she did.  But Wesley's finger was in the way and it took a minute for her to catch on to that...poor guy!  Fortunately he just had a squished finger instead of a broken one!

The last week I was home with the kids, I asked each of them to choose one place they would like to visit and Grace chose Jump and Fun.  It's a big room with inflatables for kids to jump and climb on...they were worn out.  Totally worth it.

Wesley's a simple boy and his choice was the mall.  We were excited about the mall because it's not in the heat ;) and there is a new play area pictured above the kids got to explore.

I also let Wesley choose a fun activity for he and Grace to do in the mall...I normally NEVER pay for inside activities because there are several free things to do.  However, he chose the trampoline and they were both allowed to jump.

Story time with daddy.  Mommy will read just about any type of book...except ones about snakes.

Happy 1st birthday to Gardener!

Group shot!

Back to school water fun at the Presuti's home.  Grace isn't pictured and I'm not even sure if I got Wesley in this one, but they went on full force for hours playing on this thing!

Breakfast date at Chick-Fil-A

Back to school pep rally for WS/FCS!

Back to school Ice Cream Festival, although, they really need to change the name of it...there were a few tents with ice cream but overall a super fun morning out for the kids.

What's a pregnant momma to do when the kids are asleep and the husband is away?  Watermelon, wine cooler, and Harry Potter, of course!

37 weeks...phew!  So enjoying the comments from upstanding humans in our society.  :)  "You are carrying so LOW...I bet you're having a boy!"  No, I'm carrying where gravity will hold a baby in this belly...and it's a girl.  "How many are you having?"  Triplets.  "Whoa...you look like you are going to pop!"  Yes, thank you that makes me feel better about myself, much appreciated.  I could go on and on...and I'm usually very nice with my responses to people, just so you know!  I did have to respond to one male by just saying, "No one ever taught you how to talk to a pregnant woman, did they?"  Jimmy was probably more horrified than the guy I said it to...I said it with a smile on my face, though :)

I went back to work (part time as a reading interventionist where Grace goes to school, which is nice!) the week before Grace started school and Wesley's pre-school starts even later.  My mom came up to help (thank you mom!) and then Jimmy was able to cover a morning of kid sitting.  He's such a good daddy...they did watch a movie BUT they also did some painting.  I give him a hard time about TV, but he is a fantastic daddy and they pretty much adore him.  Thumbs up daddy :)

Memere watched the kids for three days and stayed with us in Winston...it was so helpful and wonderful to have her here!  Aunt Cindy came up one day to help out as well.  Here's proof Memere's baking hands were in our home.  Yummy red, white, and blue rice krispie treats.

Family Update
Wesley:  He has been spending time at different friend's houses this week.  Thank you Mary Ross, Christina, and Hannah for being willing to let Wesley come play this week!  He will start in a two year old pre-school class (even though he'll be 3 soon...misses the cut off and will always be the older one in his class) next week.
Grace:  She started kindergarten on the 29th!  I'll have a separate post up soon about this experience.  It was an emotional one for me in a good way and she had absolutely loved school so far.
Kristen:  Not much to update on me except I'm having a baby in 12 days!  Anna Ruth is scheduled to arrive via c-section on September 13th.  Feeling very worn out and uncomfortable, but grateful for a healthy report so far and we are so excited to welcome this little lady into our home.
Jimmy:  He is enjoying his fellowship and we are enjoying having him home more often than residency.  Jimmy is taking one week of paternity leave and one week of vacation when Anna is born...I am SO grateful for that time we'll have together and all the help he will be able to provide.
