"May I borrow a cup of sugar?"

The Millers: Jonathan, Jessica, and Coen

David and Lindsay Cloer

I thought the title of this post might catch the attention of people!  "May I borrow a cup of sugar?" is the first thing that comes to mind when I used to think of neighbors.   Come on, y'all know what I am talking about!  There is this typcial neighbor stereotype of being comfortable enough to go next door and ask for some sugar, a hammer..whatever it is!  There may even be some neighbors that you are scared to approach.  There are many types of neighbors we all live near BUT there are some neighbors that you could never replace and this is our tale of exactly that.

Many of you have seen us blog about our neighbors, the Cloers.  David and Lindsay are the neighbors to the right of us but we also have some great neighbors to the left of us: the Millers which includes Jonathan, Jessica and Coen whom is 4.  Jimmy and I have thought many times how blessed we are to have such amazing neighbors that you can call on anytime for help.  We have had a blast with our neighbors over the past three years of being in Winston-Salem.  We thought we'd take a walk down memory lane and share some of those good times:

-snow sledding followed by a chili supper...yum!
-the adventure of finding something to sled with at Wal-Mart qualifies as it's own bullet haha
-movie nights in the Cloer's backyard
-lunch with the wives at Olive Garden
-watching each others kids when things come up
-watching each others dogs when we are out of town so we don't have to put them in a kennel
-multiple dinners/cookouts together
-backyard game night
-rich conversations that go into the wee hours sometimes...fun!
-surprise gifts (sweets, clothes for Grace, presents for Grace haha...we basically don't pay for anything for Grace anymore with all of the blessings around us!)
-fixing hair catastrophes
-both neighbors were the first visitors in the hospital when Grace was born and Lindsay took pictures
-mowing each others lawns
-cake/cupcake adventures
-cul-de-sac conversations while the kids play (when I say kids, I mean Coen, Grace AND the husbands hehe)
-photo shoots
-the Miller's housing adventure (we had to add this purely because we are happy they are staying for a little while longer :)
-getting the mail for each other
-checking on each others houses when needed
-being able to call at any time..even the middle of the night

You know, if I sat down with both families, I am sure we could come up with a never ending list.  The times we have had together have been priceless!  The best part of it all is that the main reason we aren't trying to move during residency in Winston-Salem is because we have NO good reason!  We have the BEST situation right where we are...and isn't it funny how God works in such mysterious ways?  It's no mystery to us now why we were placed in the neighborhood we live in, but before, who would have known we would have grown so close with our neighbors?  Everyone is guilty of taking things for granted but I tell you one thing, we don't take our neighbors for granted...not one bit!  We treasure the time with these people that we love.  Even though we say they are neighbors, they are really close friends of ours now...the neighbor title should be removed :)  Thank you to our friends and thank the Lord for placing us all together in the "Cloer cul-de-sac".

While David Cloer has been deployed to Kuwait we have especially spent extra time with Lindsay.  Lindsay eats with us multiple times a week (what is the sense in her cooking for one when I can cook for 3?) and every now and then we end up having a movie night or New Girl tv show night.  Lindsay has been more than gracious to us and to our Grace by buying her TOO much!  Lindsay blogged about our friendship and we felt like we should share that with people that may not read her blog.
