Mother's Day 2014

My mom came up the Friday before Mother's Day to spend some time with us.  She had Friday off, and Jimmy had things going on outside of work, so the kids and I were pumped!

Grace told me she wanted to bake something with Memere (my mom) when she got to our house and this is what she chose...a tie dye cake.

It was a complicated process but turned out tasting delicious!

We took Memere to the Greensboro Science Center.  Grace kept asking to go to the aquarium and I had forgotten they had one.  She loves touching the sting rays dipping her hands in the water and pretending like she is touching the sting rays.

Cute pic of the kids with Memere (never mind Grace's stanky face)

This baby monkey just turned one!  He (or she) was adorable.

"Hey kitty cat, what are you doing?"

"Get my good side" says the monkey.

We have never seen animals in this exhibit but apparently there are meerkats that hide underground.  About six of them came out from under the rock.  It was cool to watch!

A poem from Grace (made at preschool)

With her accompanying craft

Another cute craft

I even got a card from Wesley (preschool).  Either they did a really good job of cleaning his feet off, or I'm an unobservant mother that never even noticed purple paint on his feet/toes, haha!

Unfortunately, my mom got sick Saturday night.  Jimmy and Grace had been sick almost two weeks before, so we aren't sure if she got that or something else.  Either way, we felt awful for her!  Jimmy took the kids and I out to brunch on Mother's Day at 4th Street Filling Station.  It was yummy!  It also gave us a chance to get out, let mom rest, and grab some things for her.  She ended up going home on Sunday.  We had surprises for her like flowers, snacks from Trader Joes, and money for a manicure/pedicure but Grace told her everything when she arrived, haha.

Thank you mom for visiting us and for being an amazing mother to Jordan and I!  We love you!

I'd say these two are worth celebrating :)  I LOVE being their mom!
