Saying Goodbye

Grace and Brooke have been best buddies since they were born.  It all goes back to 2009 when Gretchen and I taught together at Kimmel Farm Elementary School.  We hung out for the first time at her neighborhood pool the summer of 2010.  We were both pregnant at that time and blurted it out to each other :)  Since then, we have all been best buddies.  The girls were born 11 days a part.  We had weekly walks, play dates, pool dates, museum trips, went to festivals, and much more.  The kind of friendship Gretchen and I have is invaluable.  We would watch each other's kids without expecting anything in return.  When Jimmy and I both came down with the stomach bug one morning, Gretchen was the friend I could call to come pick Grace up for the day since we couldn't care for her.  I don't know what we would have done without her!  When Wesley was born, Gretchen came and took Grace several times to play for the day with Brooke.  That was so helpful!  Gretchen, Pat, and Brooke moved to Massachusetts yesterday.  It was going home for them and they are incredibly excited about it but we can't help but being sad because we will miss them so much!  We love the Abbott family and wish them the best.

I know these girls won't remember much about their first three years of friendship, but I'll never forget it.  We hope to plan a yearly get together so they girls can be lifetime friends.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up.  But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
