We made an overdue trip down to Florida to visit Jimmy's parents. Grace and Wesley had never been there. Jimmy had a vacation week so we drove on down! It was good getting to see everyone, especially Peepaw aka Grandpa Jim who actually passed away earlier this week. Jimmy is much more articulate than I and since it's his grandfather, I would like to let him write a special blog post about his grandfather's life. He sure left a legacy!
No Florida home is complete without a covered pool!
Lunch with grandpa and daddy by the pool
Hunter really liked licked Wesley :)
Teaching Grace to swing
This was a fun park down the street from the Turners. Jimmy and I couldn't resist going down the slide, too!
Sweet babies
Someone likes balloons...
We went to a wildlife park since Jimmy's hometown is "Home of the Manatees".
Looks real, right?
Tram ride to the park
Gorgeous springs and HUGE manatee!
They are kind of funny looking
We went to a manatee show where they fed them cabbage.
There was an underwater viewing area underneath this dock
Looking at the hippo
Feeding some birds
There were a lot more animals we saw. It was fun! It was also nice taking a boat ride back to our car.
Peepaw aka Grandpa Jim had been living with Jimmy's parents for almost a month by the time we went down to visit. We knew he was at the end of his life when we visited but were incredibly happy to be there with him. Grace and Wesley spent a little bit of time with him, as did Jimmy and I. Peepaw passed away on Monday. Thank the Lord he is no longer in pain but please keep Jimmy and his family in your prayers. Jimmy was very close with his grandpa and will be speaking at the funeral service.
We had planned to stay in Columbia on the way back home because my brother flew in from California! We were glad to be able to see my family, too. I went ahead and got dad an early Father's Day present: some workout pants for the gym. Dad has recently lost about 20 pounds by working out and eating healthier. We are proud of him!
Jimmy, Beth, Tony, and I met at Cracker Barrel for breakfast one morning. We went back to my parent's house and Blair came over! I hadn't seen Blair in a few years (and she lives near my parents without us knowing)! Beth, Blair and I went to high school together. Blair and I roomed together freshman year at Erskine College and then she went to Clemson. We have the BEST stories of rooming together :)
Uncle Jordan is a fun uncle! He sure loves our kids :)
We had family over on Saturday to cook out and enjoy time together!
Uncle Robin, Dad, Tucker (Jordan's friend), Sarah, Jimmy, and Jordan on the grill
Grace had lots of pool time while we were gone
Wearing Uncle Linton's hat
Grace is wearing my 3 year old dress
Wesley is wearing Jordan's 9 month old outfit
Same outfits, same pose! That's Jordan and I, folks!
After Sunday church: Memere and her g-babies
We had a great time with family! Did I mention that Wesley got a double ear infection while we were down in Florida? We had to take him to Urgent Care. Oh yeah, and then he decided to have a reaction to the medication so we had to get a new one called in. He was SUCH a trooper for having all of that go on. We were a little nervous about the car ride, even though we broke up the trip, but the kids were FANTASTIC! Let's just say mommy and daddy were exhausted by the time we got home!
