Here is a picture recap of our beach trip:
We (my dad, Wesley, and I mainly) saw lots of sunrises. They sure are gorgeous!
Wesley met the beach for the first time.
He had mixed feelings about the taste of sand :)
Dad and Jimmy had their 3rd annual bocce ball tourney. Jimmy won!
We stayed in a really nice duplex (right).
Grace had a blast! Look at that cutie :)
We built sand castles and dug chairs in the sand.
My friend, Liz, gave us the idea to bring a baby pool for Wesley. Mom found this one for $4 and it ended up being a nice addition to the beach.
We got to visit My great great aunt Ruth in Wilmington. Grace has met her but Wesley had not. Ruth is the only living sister of my Nana's. Ruth just turned 97! It was special for us to be able to see her because Nana never got to meet Grace and Wesley. It brings tears to my eyes looking at these pictures because I know Nana would have been proud.
Dad, mom, and Grace wading in the shallow water.
Yep, my parents boogie board at the beach :) Boogie boarding is one of our family's favorite things to do at the beach!
Our family of 4
Memere and Pepere with the grands!
This was our fourth beach trip!
We found a wonderful playground to take Grace to one morning.
You can't beat that view from the top of the playground!
Wesley enjoyed lots of snacks on the beach.
Grace and her lunch :
Grace and Aunt Cindy on the pier!
Memere and Grace
We took a stroll on the pier...what a view!
We did not stay here...I just wanted a picture!
We saw surfers from the pier.
Grace saw her first jellyfish from the pier.
Daddy-Wesley bottle/reading time
We had our low country boil as we always do...delicious!!
We even got to see a fireworks show! The 4th of July fireworks show on the island got postponed due to weather so they happened to reschedule it to the last day we were at the beach!
Did I mention my first week of grad school was while we were at the beach? We had the beach trip planned before the whole grad school thing happened. It worked out nicely because there was plenty of help at the beach and the kids took fantastic naps. Between naps and bed time, I was able to get my work in for the week.
Thank you to mom, dad, aunt Cindy, and uncle Linton for all of your help with the kids and your generosity with food and pastries from the bakery :) We love y'all!!
