We had a busy month! I guess that's a recurring theme in our lives. Mommy was accepted to grad school (YAY!) and we went on a family beach trip (see previous post) this month. Check out our month in review:
This cutie is 10 months old!
Grace at 10 months!
He was pretty proud of himself for taking the sticker off...little stinker!
Cheesing
Grace at 10 months (Valentine's Day)
Weswee at 10 months
We went to a track themed birthday party for Wade. We are in the same small group as Wade's parents, Leslie and Mat. It was a fun party! The kids lined up to run meets that included the long jump, sprints with hurdles, and the long distance run. Super creative and fun party!
We had a party last month and I forgot to include our cleaning process picture :) Our patio needed some TLC. I pressure washed one side of the patio and Jimmy wanted to finish it. I was making a bottle for Wesley when I heard a knock on the door for me to come see his special message...love!
This is Miss Emily. She is an AMAZING babysitter that we all love! Miss Emily went off to school for the year and we are happy for her but really sad because we will miss her. However, bonus for us, she has an older sister who has been equally as fun of a babysitter! Oh yeah, Grace's right eye is swollen in the picture due to a lovely mosquito bite.
These two love playing together.
Look as his handsome outfit for church!
We found Wesley practicing his walking skills using his knees.
And then one day they can pull up on their own...sigh. Here we go!
Naked babies!
I knew life was about to get crazy so I spent one afternoon at the park with my kiddos and then we picked out sweet treats at Whole Foods. We will still go to the park, I'm not that pessimistic!
Every morning Grace wakes up and asks, "Where is daddy? Is he at work?" She loves her daddy and was excited that he was home to play one afternoon.
Memere and Wesley at the beach (I didn't realize it wasn't posted with the beach stuff)
Grace and Wesley play time!
Jimmy taught Wesley a trick. As cute as it is now, it might not be later...
10 Month Update
Weight/Height/Head: will have at one year check upMoods: Wesley is a sweet, happy baby. He gets fussy around dinner time but hey, don't we all?
Favorite foods: olives, graham crackers with peanut butter (pediatrician said they have lifted the whole "don't try it until after a year old" rule with peanut butter), and pretty much any fruit
Favorite toy: this giant stuffed dog that Jimmy's grandpa gave to Grace when she was little. Grace and Wesley wrestle with and fall on top of the dog while squealing with laughter...it's adorable (and in the video clip above)!
Sounds: finally a "mama'!!!
Sign Language: Wesley can finally sign "more". We did a few signs with Grace and look forward to teaching Wesley as well!
Teeth: 3 bottom teeth; 4 top teeth
Favorite hobbies: pulling up on things and "walking" around the edges to different objects such as couches, beds, Grace's kitchen, and chairs and spotting electrical outlets
Accomplishments: pulling up on objects and taking independent steps with his walker
Sleep habits: 2 naps; a morning 2 hour nap followed by an afternoon 2-3 hour nap...I can't complain about that! Wesley and Grace take an afternoon nap at the same time and it's glorious. Wesley sleeps from 7:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m. typically. Except when you are on vacation at the beach...then he likes to wake up around 5:00 a.m. or so. Phew.
Clothing Size: 12 months
Big sister update: Grace has been playing WITH Wesley a lot more lately. She likes to boss him around and fortunately for her, he doesn't mind. We have been talking with her about being gentle when they wrestle on the floor but the day will come when we won't need to do that anymore :) Grace started preschool and that has been good for everyone involved in the family! She is so social and active that we are looking forward to her having that outlet. Grace and Wesley also accompany me to bible study on Thursdays. They love the child care there and bible study has always been a rich time for me to learn about God's word alongside other mom's in our church. It has surely been a blessing in my life!
Kristen's work update: Work has officially picked up for me. I am on the lead of a new project and will be traveling to some schools to help teachers implement problem based learning. I am excited about it!
Grad School Update: I was accepted into grad school for the Masters in Educational Leadership at Queen's University in Charlotte, NC!!! Yay :) My first week of classes was the week we went to our family vacation at the beach. It worked out nicely since we had extra adults around and beach naps for the kids were extra long. I was able to get all of my work done and even got a 100 on my first paper (thanks to my husband's mad proof reading skills)! I am working on a schedule of my life right now so I can properly balance everything. This will be a busy season in our lives but we are up for the challenge. I personally feel called to pursue administration so that I can become an effective administrator in the near future. Thank you everyone for your prayers and support!
Residency Update: Jimmy finished up his neuro ICU rotation and PRAISE THE LORD!! It wasn't the worst rotation but he sure was gone a lot. That probably had something to do with some extra moonlighting shifts, which are financially beneficial to us, but he also got hammered with on call shifts. We had our beach vacation at the end of this rotation and we were pumped! Jimmy just began OB. He will spend this month easing the pain of pregnant mama's! He has done epidurals on another rotation (regional) and has already had the opportunity to do several on OB. BRAG moment: Jimmy was talking with a family who was having their second child. The mother said she had her previous child in another city and the doctor took an hour and a half to get her epidural in. Jimmy was able to get hers in and working in 11 minutes :) I am excited to hear stories like these because I know he is also fulfilling his calling from God to help others. I hope that I will have the opportunity to see him in action one day. We are proud of him and love him more than chocolate!
