Planting our new crops in the garden beds
Sand box fun!
Maverick likes to park it on Wesley's big boy bed (we've always had a bed in his room for changing diapers...soon enough he'll be sleeping in it!). I have to remember to keep the door closed because he sheds (Maverick, that is)!
Jimmy made a picnic table for the kids!! He sawed the wood and everything. We love it!
The kids has Spring Break the end of March and into the beginning of April. We went to a Dr. Seuss party at the Children's Museum.
More Spring Break fun!
Grace's birthday gift from Jimmy and I was a trip to see Curious George live at the Children's Theater in Winston-Salem. Jimmy, Grace, and her buddy, Ellory, and her dad all went together. They had Chick-Fil-A afterwards and considered it a successful double daddy-daughter date.

This is Wesley, leaking little tears, at his hair cut. He actually was calm for the most part, but something about scissors near his head is just upsetting! This was his second hair cut, but he was so freaked out at the first one that I didn't have time for a picture. This time I took him to Snip-Its which is a kids haircut place. Both kiddos got their hair trimmed and loved the place.
Suckers afterwards
We took the kids to the "kids day" short films at the Hanes Theater in Winston-Salem. The Riverrun festival had been going on so it was the perfect rainy Saturday activity for us. Krispy Kreme just so happened to donate free donuts that were conveniently placed at the exit.
There was a parent luncheon that I was able to attend at the kids' preschool. Above is Wesley's artwork.
Here is Grace's artwork.

Wesley was there, too!
More of Wesley eating ;) He's such a stinker!
Grace's 3 year old pre-school class picture. She is in the middle, on the far left.
What an exhausting month!
Our friends David and Lindsay finally brought home Timmy to live with them forever! We are so excited for them!
Grace and Timmy at the NC Zoo. Thanks Aunt Lulu and Uncle David for taking them!
The last week of April was crunch time for me as I was wrapping up a final paper. I let Grace come out of her room early during rest time (since she doesn't nap some days) and have some shaving cream time. I used to have "shaving cream Fridays" when I taught fourth grade. Every other Friday I would spray the cream on the student's desks and let them draw. I thought about this the other day and decided to let Grace try it. She loved it!
It's a GREAT alternative to writing on paper. Good practice!
We had not baked in awhile...mommy (me) turns into a cranky diva when no baking has occurred. I LOVE some cookie dough, icing, or anything sweet. We made sugar cookies and Grace even helped to ice them.
Update:
Wesley: His personality is developing and it is SO fun to watch him learn new things. Wesley is a sweet, sweet boy, but he also is a pistol. I picked him up from pre-school one day and the teacher said, "Girl, he was like a bull in a China shop today!" Yep. Wesley adores his "sissy" and pretty much copies her, which isn't always a good thing. His vocabulary is expanding and we think he'll be an engineer one day because of his interest in the mechanics of toys. Who knows!
Grace: Since turning 4, Grace has "upped" her sass. She even rolled her eyes at me one day...I had to actively think about keeping my hand by my side so I didn't reach up and smack her! Haha. Grace is a very social, inquisitive and a kind-hearted little girl. She loves playing with Wesley (most of the time) and especially loved all the birthday attention she received this month. Grace will finish up her dance class this month (May) and has asked to do swim lessons next, then soccer ball lessons. Yep, maybe Jimmy and I will be able to share our wealth of knowledge about soccer with Grace. It's slightly doubtful as she usually says, "I can do it myself!!"
Kristen: I just finished my 4th grad school class and what a relief it is! I have had to write A LOT of papers, read books, participate in discussion forums, etc. I think grad school has been very doable so far and it helps that I'm only working part-time right now. That's a blessing for sure. I need prayer for discipline to spend time in the word. I'm making time to do plenty of things except read scripture and that's not setting a good example for my children. I also need to be more intentional about helping Grace with her bible verses (we have scripture cards for her to memorize and it's so helpful in teaching her how to be a young lady).
ALSO, I began a new job this past month! I decided not to renew my contract with CERTL, the company whom I previously worked for close to four years. I happened to find a part-time reading interventionist position on the job listings page of the Winston Salem Forsyth County School system's website. I applied and interviewed within days and was offered the job. It has been a great move for me as I have wanted to transition back into the school system due to my desire to become a school administrator in the near future. I am working at the school where I previously taught, so the transition has been great!
Jimmy: He had a great rotation this past month. His schedule was awesome and he didn't have to go to bed before 9! We were able to have lots of time together as a couple and family. Jimmy began Neuro last week and it will be an adjustment as he has been out of the operating room for a month, but he's used to making those adjustments. Jimmy is going to an ASA anesthesia legislative conference this month in Washington D.C. with some fellow anesthesiologists. Pray for his safe travels and for Grace, Wesley and I not to drive each other too crazy at home!
