February 2017 Family Update: Anna Ruth is 6 months!

February was a fun month...I love celebrating LOVE :)  I cannot believe Anna Ruth is half a year old...I'll be sobbing when she turns one, haha.  Six months is probably one of the most fun ages, in my opinion.  Can't wait to watch this little nugget continue to grow.

Jimmy has his oral board exam THIS week (last big step before becoming fully licensed), the kids are doing well in school, Anna Ruth is a happy baby, and mommy is trying to keep the house in order, phew!  God has really put it on my heart to read some parenting books, spend time in the word with the kids, write scripture, and to focus on Him because I know I would fall apart without His guidance.  He knows we are in a busy season of life and the more time I spend focusing on Him, the better it is for everyone in the household.  Psalm 127:1 has stood out to me recently (as I was directed to read in the Gospel Centered Parent)

"Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain"

Anna Ruth 6 month stats:
Weight:17 pounds (80%)
Height: 26 inches (50%)
Head: 17.5 inches (95%)
She's a super happy baby unless she's tired or hungry ;)  She has been going to bed around 6 p.m. and sleeping until 6 a.m. or later within the past several weeks.  Woohoo!  That is a product of some sleep training, though.

Wesley

It's ridiculous how much these children look alike...most people say Anna Ruth looks like Grace.  However, whenever I go out with the kids in public here lately, people are asking if Grace and Wesley are twins, haha.  They all favor each other and are a beautiful mixture of mommy and daddy, but we are biased.

Not much encapsulates this boy better than this picture of him sleeping.  He's such a sweet and tender soul, but if you get him at the right moment, he's also SUCH a boy :)  He wants to play trucks, sleep in tents, and have sword fights.  So grateful for this little man.

This actually encapsulates Grace quite well.  She LOVES riding her bicycle, anything that involves unicorns/rainbows, and drawing flowers/people right now.  We love her feisty personality and the tender side of her as well.  She can hold her own and we don't want that to ever go away even if it comes with some sassiness that we have to tame.

Bike helmets are fun ;)

Anna Ruth is the cutest sleeper.

Three kiddos in swings...fun afternoon!

"Mommy, will you take a picture of us?"  Yes.  Always, yes.

Grace's teacher has been reading a chapter book to the class about some girl who writes letters to the tooth fairy.  So, she was inspired.  I helped her with some of the words, but try to encourage her to "stretch out" those words and try it herself.

Harper (right) wanted Grace to come with her to get a manicure and pedicure as a birthday treat.  Grace had never done this before and loved it!

Adorable picture of the girls waiting on their nails to dry.

Spending time outside with our new (used, $3) chalk rake!

Anna Ruth is sitting up better and better each day!

There's a playground, small track, and now favorite bike riding spot near our house.  Grace was making mommy nervous, but did a great job!

Children's museum fun

Not sure what I did here with the rotation but oh well.  Anna Ruth and Joshua :)

Wesley, Grace, and Timmy at the Children's Museum

Picnic snack at the Reynolda Villages (another fun place to ride bikes)

Mommy and Anna Ruth

We were riding bikes at yet another place in town when my heart felt a pang...a happy pang, but also a "I can't believe she's such big girl...when did this happen??" pang.

Valentine's Day
Anna Ruth's 1st Valentine's Day!

Borrowed this idea from a friend (there's one on AR's door, too) where you take different things you love about your kids to a sign on their door for them to read.  It helped me be more intentional with my words this month.

Fun Valentine's treats

You know you have a boy when....he gets a toy gun for Valentine's Day.

Jimmy's parents sent these to me and they were just beautiful!

Valentine's breakfast

Dot paint

We used the dot paint for Grace's sight words

Harper's birthday party @ Chick-Fil-A

Sister time

Heart is bursting.

"I want a picture, too!"

Grace missed a day of school due to a fever and just tiredness...everything checked out okay at the doc, so we stayed home to rest.

Wesley in a classic sleep position.

Jimmy picked Wesley up from preschool one day and took him golfing...they had a blast!

Sleepover at the Kittner household (basically their second home)

Our newer neighbor asked if she could snap some pictures of the kids as she is trying to start her own photography business.  They did a a good job!
