August 2020 Family Update: School Begins!

The district we live within decided to proceed with plan B for returning to school.  It's a smaller district with not that many Covid19 cases compared to our neighboring districts.  We felt that the district did a great job communicating with families and even showed weekly updates for how the schools were preparing for students.  Wesley goes every day except Wednesday (all kiddos home on Wednesdays) and Grace goes on Tuesdays & Fridays, only.  It has been purely challenging, even with the schools & teachers doing amazing work.  I am grateful I was able to continue working from home or I don't know how we would have managed everything!

First day of 4th grade!

First day of 1st grade!

Grace's at home space

We tried to make it special since she will be home more days than not.

First day of pre-school!  Technically Anna Ruth misses the school-aged cut off by 2 whole days.  There's a chance she will be doing pre-school again next year but who knows!

It's not one thing for teachers, families & citizens in general that makes this Covid19 thing difficult...it's many things. On the flip side, it will also take many things to keep you sane. For me, it has been working out, painting my nails some days, taking small breaks to read, and chocolate. Take care of yourself so you can take care of those you love.

Sweet and Salty all in one picture.  Went for a walk at Salem Lake with team Kittner/Turner

Apparently it was National Dog Day this month
Maverick is 12!  Clearly he's getting old by the gray around his face and on his body.  He follows me everywhere, loves his human siblings, but would much rather prefer to be a human instead of a dog.

Ellie is 11.  She has one of the most ear piercing, annoying barks but is also the most patient and forgiving of the dogs when it comes to Anna Ruth.

Piper is 3.5 by now and we have loved adding her to our family!  She has lots of energy yet is still calm and sweet.  She likes going on runs with me, watching Clemmons (Grace's bunny), wrestling with Ellie, and guarding our yard when other dogs walk by.

Wesley was studying maps at school and begged for a treasure hunt.  Mommy + Daddy's creativitiy = one fun mystery treasure hunt!

Grace interviewed my mom for one of her school assignments.  Super cute.

One of my teammates sent this to me and I think it's pretty accurate...the lyrics just pop in my head and I have to let them out!

Grace, reading a story to Anna Ruth one evening.

Wesley tried out tennis camp and loved it!
