Memorial Day Baseball Game and 1st Family Camping Trip

Baseball Game
I may be setting myself up for failure having blogged now two days in a row...don't expect this to be the norm, we just have SO much going on to share about in our lives right now!  We had busy Memorial Day weekend that ended on a great note :)  My friend, Gretchen, had two tickets to the Winston Salem Dash baseball game for Memorial Day and she wasn't using them.  She called me and we JUMPED at the opportunity to go!  The last time we took Grace she was a few months old and even then we had SO much fun sitting in the outfield.  This time we had seats behind homeplate.  We had a BLAST at the game if you can't tell below...speaking of a blast, why not a blast from the past (from our last baseball game as a family)?

Learning tricks of the trade from daddy, like how good the railings taste :)
It was a beautiful Memorial Day...thankful for those that served and currently serve.
Great view from our seats of Winston Salem
Grace wasn't Bolt's biggest fan, but she complied and took a picture with him.
Camping Trip
Since Jimmy begins residency on July 1st, we are trying to get a much family bonding time in as possible because soon he won't have the same amount of time to devote to trips like the ones we are taking.  We were SO excited about our camping trip to Bandit's Roost, NC!  It was the first camping trip for Grace and I and boy did we have fun!!

Our set up and quite the spot!  This spot usually books 4 months in advance but it just so happened to be available for the one night we were staying.  God blessed us right there, y'all!
Grace fell asleep shortly after we unpacked
The view from our camp spot...beauty!

I'm sure you are wondering, "How was camping with a 13.5 month old?"  That's funny you should ask because it was great, except for the night...

When we arrived at the camping site, Jimmy unpacked and set things up.  Grace and I went exploring, finding some geese, ducks and even a fun playground.  Once everything was set up, Grace was overdue for a nap.  She fussed a little going down but it was warm out and she was overtired.  We went swimming after her nap and just walked around the camp site, it was relaxing!  For dinner, Jimmy cooked some hotdogs for us...yummo!  We let Grace walk around and wear herself out; she usually goes to bed at 7 but didn't go to bed until 8.  I wasn't expecting a routine bed time, so we were fine with that time.  Once she was asleep, we laid out on a blanket and read until it got dark.  Once it was dark, Jimmy and I watched Ocean's 11 on his ipad.  By the time the movie was over, it was almost 11 and bed time indeed!

Well, here's where the trip took a turn for the worse.  Jimmy and I must have been too loud climbing into the tent and getting ready for bed because baby girl woke up.  She sometimes wakes up at night when we go and check on her but she ALWAYS goes back to sleep; not tonight, folks.  Jimmy and I laid down on the air mattress and we heard a loud giggle.  We turned to see Grace standing up in her pack n play, waving her hand at us.  It was funny, at first.  "Surely she'll go back to sleep..." were the thoughts in both of our minds, but alas, we were proven wrong.  Grace was WIDE awake and she wanted to play!  She wasn't loud or fussy, thankfully, but she sure did stay awake just rolling around until about 1:00 a.m.  She was so distracting that we even pulled her into the bed with us (which we have never done) and she fell right asleep.  *CUE loud, yippy, annoying and obnoxious dog that likes to bark from midnight-2 a.m. off and on*  Yep, someone brought their dog with them to camp and instead of letting it sleep inside the RV with them, they chained it up outside.  Literally the moment we all fell asleep, the barking woke us all right back up.

We put Grace back in her pack n play since she was wanting to play again...it wasn't until 2:00 a.m. when we all finally fell back asleep (and the dog quit barking).  Grace woke up at 6:45 a.m. and that meant we were all up.  We did feel like we had been hit by seperate buses but once we got up and walked around with Grace, we felt better.  Jimmy packed everything up, we put Grace in her car seat and she was out within minutes.  Soon after arriving at home we all got to take naps and that seemed to help.  SO, would we do it again?  You betcha :)  Camping was SO much fun and just plain beautiful!  Things can never be predictable with a little one but experiences like these sure shouldn't be completely avoided either...we are willing to try just about anything with Grace because she really is a trooper.  Memories were made during that trip and all we had to do was sacrafice a few hours of sleep :)
