Many of you comment about how I am so organized and seem to have it all together...WARNING: this is false! I plan this curriculum as I find the time by scouring Pinterest and The Jesus Storybook Bible. Sometimes the ideas are my own, but you should know most of the ideas are copied. I don't have a strict schedule for teaching Grace and I definitely don't have it all together! I enjoy teaching Grace about Jesus. Kids are so joyful about everything; Grace's joy about learning the word of God has been contagious for sure. I am a big planner but have found that I put less pressure on myself when I just make a list of what we should do that week, and we get to it when we can. I share these ideas so that others may benefit, too! If you have any good ideas, I'd LOVE to hear them.
My favorite bible snack thus far! The walls of Jericho :)
Bugles (it's ironic I had some in my cabinet), graham crackers, icing, and blueberries
"Jericho"
I found this castle template online and immediately the idea about gluing on shapes came to me.
Grace LOVES gluing and glued every single piece (except the top purple one I did for an example) onto this page!
I saw this idea on Pinterest a long time ago. I stumbled across these bingo markers and dice at the Dollar Tree.
You roll the dice and that number tells you what to do. For example: she rolled a 3 and the color orange, which means you make three orange dots. Besides the colors, the other options were todraw zig zag lines, straights lines, and to make dots with a pen. Grace did really well with this. I encourage you to let your little one do their own page first...she really wanted to make dots "her way" which I always encourage before we begin a lesson.
Random idea. I drew two shapes and her name, then I had her make dots along the border.
The Olympics were this month! I had a lot of ideas but only got to the ring toss.
I glued a potato chip tube to a paper plate. Then, Grace helped me paint the Olympic rings. We used them to play ring toss. We even painted a gold medal...but I never got around to making it into a necklace. I should get partial points at least :)
Valentine's party prep: Grace helped me take the paper off a BUNCH of crayons. We melted them in the oven and poured them into heart candy molds to make heart shaped crayons. She goes to pre-school to days a week at a local church, so she was excited to take her Valentines we made!
Side note: out of all the Valentines she was given, she specifically asked Jimmy to put up one on her art wall in her room...of course it was one from a boy :) Poor daddy, hehe.
Grace took breaks to color...it's so fun finding things in her room that we have both forgotten about!
Grace isn't very interested in stencils, but we will hold onto them until she is.
YAY hubby! I asked Jimmy if there was a way to have the whiteboard in the kitchen to use for school lessons. VOILA. He taped it on the end of the cabinet. I put a few suction cups on it for the bag of markers. It is magnetic, too. It's nice to have another surface to do school lessons with.
Current magazine (or their website) is my new "good find". I have found some cute craft stuff for cheap, recently. These are pizza Valentine's cards which I just used to let Grace create her own pizza. There are several sheets, so we'll have more pizza making ahead of us.
These are face Valentine's cards. I like them! It has been great practice for Grace putting the stickers where they belong.
We read about David being anointed king. This is supposed to be king David; Grace's handprints made the beard and crown. It didn't turn out like I'd hope, but you get the picture.
I found a crown template that was perfect for using pom poms to make a pattern.
The idea was to turn this into a crown for Grace to wear. However, as soon as we began I realized that wouldn't work due to the pom poms on top. So, we just glued the crown onto a piece of construction paper.
Another good Dollar Tree find! These paint rollers actually work and we'll be using them on longer paper for our next paint craft.
