This week we learned about:
1. Daniel and the Scary Sleepover
2. God's Messenger (Jonah and the Whale)
A fun Cheerio snack/craft: We were going to make a flower since Spring has begun, but Grace only got three petals into the craft before becoming disinterested. You never know what they will or won't be up for!
Scissors activity: I cut strips across and then Grace practiced (using safety scissors) cutting out the stickers individually by cutting on the lines.
Number matching activity
Easter egg stamp painting: If you read this blog, you know Grace loves to paint. For this activity, all you need are some plastic Easter eggs (cheap), paint, and construction paper.
We stamped several eggs. Grace ended up mixing the paint colors and that made for some pretty cool designs!
Grace loves baking...especially muffins. So, we made some mini muffins this week. She helped me follow the directions in order and stir the batter. I made a baking song up a long time ago and Grace likes to sing it when we bake:
"Stir the batter, Stir the batter,
Mix it up, Mix it up.
First you have to bake it, then you get to eat it,
yum yum yum
yum yum yum!"
I totally forget the name of the tune we sing it to...some familiar nursery rhyme. Oh, well! haha
Another Dollar Tree find
There were different pages that have items to cut out and glue. Grace liked the lion page which fit perfectly in with Daniel and Lion's Den!
A cute craft from the pre-school she attends.
Trace your letter cards: I was going to make my own cards but then I found these on amazon. They are GREAT!
I really like how there is a picture, an upper and lower case letter, and a corresponding word for the picture. That makes the connection meaningful. On the backside of the card there are more pictures and words. They are easy to clean and durable. Thumbs up for this one!
#snackfail
This was supposed to be a whale (you know, for Jonah and the whale) but it sadly fell apart. The banana is the whale, sitting on the blue colored marshmallow cream with girl scout cookies as the tail and I'm not even sure why I had them on the sides...I was copying a Pinterest idea. Oh well, Grace got the point and enjoyed the snack :)
Jonah and the Whale craft: Grace tore apart tissue paper, squirted the glue on, and then put the pieces inside the lines. It was a great activity for her.
Counting bears: These were about $6 on Amazon. Grace does really well with her letters but she needs practice with her numbers. So, this "toy" has been great for teaching 1-1 correspondence and counting.
