September Update/Anna Ruth is 1 month!

You can most likely count on my monthly updates coming a little bit late each month so I can include Anna Ruth's month to month pictures!  I LOVE comparison pictures, so please enjoy the ones of our three kiddos below.  Naturally, September was a month of pure joy, transition, some tears but mostly getting used to the "new" normal.

Anna Ruth is 1 month old!!

Grace @ 1 month!

Anna Ruth in the duckie outfit that Grace wore as a newborn!

There's Grace in the duckie outfit...can't believe I found it!  Like one of the teachers at the kids' preschool said, "Man, y'all just make them one way!" in reference to all of our kids favoring one another.

We went to the Bethabera Park Apple Festival when Anna Ruth was about 2 weeks old.  I've gone the past four or 5 years and really wanted to get out of the house so we went as a family and it was fun!

My moby wrap wearing and wonderful husband

We got to go in one of the church buildings at the park and the kids learned some German!

Snow cones!

Feeding animals

Snug as a bug!  NONE of our kids have liked having a full body swaddle, so we use this sleep sack to swaddle the bottom half.

Anna Ruth's first bath!  She wasn't a big fan.  In fact, she was quite pissed.

I referenced this parenting book in a previous blog post...I have finished it now and highly recommend it!

Hands up!  Belly full :)

Anna Ruth and mommy

Grace @ 1 month with mommy

I do a lot of driving around here lately dropping off kids and picking them up from different schools (which are on the same street, thankfully!) so one Friday afternoon I asked Wesley if he'd like to stay with mommy for the day.  You don't have to ask this momma's boy more than once!  We played hookie (sp?) and went to the Children's Museum.  They have a tool exhibit downstairs right now and we had a blast!

Friday post-school snack!  1/2 priced milkshakes at PDQ

The dogs are not sure how they feel about us adding another human to the household.

The Fall fairy has arrived!  Haha, I stole this idea from my friend Adrienne.  She keeps each season of decor in a storage bin and puts everything out like this for her kids each holiday or new season she has things saved for.  I decided to do the same with Fall/Halloween stuff.  I didn't buy anything but a glow stick or two...everything else is saved from year to year and then the kids see it and think it's all new :)

Family selfie minus Jimmy (unless you count the background, hehe)

My friend, Mary Ross, turned 30 this month and we were able to get away to the campus of Wake Forest to listen to Tim Keller speak.  He's a pastor at Redeemer Church in NYC and an author as well.

Grace has surprised me to be honest...I knew she would be a good big sister but I didn't think she'd be so willing to help do everything for her little sister.  Here's her first diaper change!

Cute moment caught on camera

Grace holding Anna Ruth

Grace holding Wesley @ 1 month!

I heard a terrible noise behind me one morning in the van and pulled over in a parking lot to investigate.  Yeah.  The little human made a big mess.  She has done this about 3 times since birth...normally she doesn't spit up too much but WOW.

Our kids and the Kittner kids are becoming best buds as we spend most Saturdays together watching the Wake Forest football games (they're 5-1!!).

Welcome to the world Banks Champion Boles!  One of my best girlfriends from college had her first baby about a month after Anna Ruth was born and now we have an arranged marriage.  Yay!

Side ways smile

Jimmy and the kids like to make up games to play :)

What a month!  Here are some family updates:

Anna Ruth
Height: was 21 inches at birth and then 19 inches at her 2 week check up...guess one of them is off
Weight: was 7 pounds 7 ounces at her 2 week check up...will have a more recent number next week
Head: will have at her next appointment...I didn't write it down!
Sleep: Great!  She's been doing 3 and 4 hours stretches since she came home from the hospital.  We had a few rough nights, but overall very good.  Last night she gave me almost a 5 hour stretch.  I am usually up for 20 minutes with her (not bad!) feeding and changing her diaper.  She's a great baby!  Gassy in the evenings before bed, but good!
Wesley
PHEW.  He has been the most challenging since Anna Ruth was born and I believe it's because we are almost at the age 3.  The terrible twos are not real...at least not for us.  But the 3s....oh boy I remember us calling Grace a "threenager" because it was just difficult.  Wesley is a laid back and sweet boy who has been showing some defiance towards mommy lately.  I can't complain too much since he doesn't seem to show it towards anyone else.  He has a birthday coming up...I cannot believe he'll be 3 soon!
Grace
This girl is in her element when she's at school...she loves it!  I'm so grateful for her teacher and everyone at the school.  She has made good friends, loves learning, enjoys practicing what she's learned at school, and has just made us so proud.  Grace has been very helpful with Anna Ruth; she's always asking when she gets to hold or feed her.  Also, I meant to mention this last month but Grace is riding a bicycle on her own without training wheels!  Huge accomplishment!
Kristen
I have been on maternity leave and still adjusting to getting three little humans out the door in the morning as opposed to two.  Jimmy has been SO helpful and that has made the transition easier than expected.  I plan on returning to work around the 26th of October.  Since I'm a part-time reading teacher I feel like I can handle going back then, but we will see!
Jimmy
He is back at work and juggling a lot right now...research studies, fellowship, daddy, etc.  We get to see him A LOT more this year compared to residency.  Jimmy just had a birthday and we were able to celebrate with our friends by tailgating for a Wake Forest Football game at our house and then he went to the game with Mike, his buddy.  Those pictures will come next month!
